Forum at Domshof Building Guide
Navigate the library, dining hall, playroom, and bicycle garage in the city center location
Since October of last year, the University of Bremen has had a building in the city center with Forum at Domshof. The new building offers a central location, as well as modern learning and networking opportunities. up2date. has put together some of the most important information to help you find everything you need.
Law Library and Learning Spaces
The entire first floor is dedicated to the Juridicum law library, a branch of the Bremen State and University Library (SuUB). This means that law students have direct access to the printed literature they need within Forum at Domshof – a clear advantage when studying and preparing for exams. The SuUB will continue to provide access to the extensive collection of digital resources that are indispensable for learning, teaching, and research – especially for lawyers. The law library is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to the printed materials, scanners, printers, copiers, and lockers are available. Some of the books can be checked out at the information and circulation desk, which is located directly at the entrance to the Juridicum. You can also use a form to order articles from printed journals and books of the SuUB free of charge. In addition, you can have literature delivered from the central library to Forum at Domshof. The Juridicum team will answer your questions at the information desk or via email juridicum@suub.uni-bremen.de. Learning spaces are also available for you. Individual workstations are located along the window wall on the first floor. On the mezzanine below, there are learning rooms for both group work and silent individual study. These rooms are freely accessible and do not need to be booked in advance.
Parent-Child Playroom
On the fifth floor, the family service office has set up a children’s playroom as well as a nursing room for university students, employees, and guests to use with their children. The playroom provides toys and comfortable seating for a relaxing stay. On the same floor, a nursing room offers peace and privacy. Access to the two rooms is possible with a transponder, which you can pick up at HERE AHEAD on the same floor in room 50077. By the way, the playroom and nursing rooms as well as places with play corners or toy boxes are located all over campus and are marked with a red “Family-friendly” sticker.
Domshof Dining Hall (Mensa)
The Domshof dining hall, located on the sixth floor, is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and its 287 seats invite you to not just eat but also stay a while. It offers a salad bar and a selection of desserts. The current menu can be found on the Studierendenwerk Bremen website. As in the campus dining hall, you can pay by debit or credit card or with your Mensacard, and you can top off your Mensacard on site. A Studierendenwerk café for snacks and coffee will be built on the ground floor.
Bicycle Garage
Nothing stands in the way of your green commute to the new central location. You can enter the parking garage by bike via Domshof, and are provided with 200 covered bicycle racks that are both freely accessible and free of charge. There is also a bicycle garage at the cathedral in Wilhadistraße, which is about a four-minute walk from Forum at Domshof. This provides an additional 90 free bicycle racks and lockable bicycle boxes for rent. The opening hours are Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to midnight.
