New University Dining Hall Opened at Forum at Domshof
Studierendenwerk Bremen now also offers lunch for students and staff at Forum at Domshof
From now on, Studierendenwerk Bremen will also serve lunch in the dining hall (Mensa) at Forum at Domshof. up2date. spoke with Maurice Mäschig from Studierendenwerk Bremen about what you can expect at the new Domshof Mensa.
As on the main University of Bremen campus, the Domshof Mensa opens at 11:30 a.m. from Monday to Friday. On the sixth floor, you can get a hot meal, create your own salad at the salad bar, and treat yourself to a dessert until 2 p.m. “We will begin in December by offering two main course options. In January, our on-site team will grow, allowing us to expand our range even further,” says Maurice Mäschig, press officer at Studierendenwerk Bremen.
The number of meals offered is based on the number of students and staff there, as well as storage, production, and serving capabilities. “The Domshof dining hall will also offer a varied and healthy menu that fits into the overall portfolio of the Studierendenwerk Bremen cafeterias,” Maurice Mäschig explains. In December, you can find out which dishes will be offered on which days by looking at the notice board in the dining hall. As of January, the menu for the Domshof Mensa will be available as usual on the Studierendenwerk Bremen website. In the new dining hall you can also pay using your Mensacard or by debit or credit card. It will also be possible to top-up your Mensacard via card payment.
Coffee Shop in Planning
On the ground floor of Forum at Domshof, a coffee shop will be opened next to the dining hall. However, the opening date is yet to be determined. Maurice Mäschig explains, “The coffee bar will have to be built by a specialized company. This will take some time due to the high volume of orders and the ongoing shortage of building materials. We are very much looking forward to creating a welcoming meeting place and social hub at Forum at Domshof.”
Test Phase
The Domshof dining hall (Mensa) is open to students, staff, and guests of the universities. The new dining hall’s operations will be in a test phase during December. Maurice Mäschig states, “We can’t foresee how busy the site will be. In the first few months, we will learn a lot and improve our processes while new team members join and are trained.”
