“The digital timeline documents the history of the University of Bremen from its founding to the present day,” explains Sigrid Dauks, director of the University Archive. “For this online feature, we have selected items from the many contemporary sources in our archives. Photos, posters, text documents, videos, and sound recordings provide lively insights into university history and invite you to discover and browse.”

The timeline items can be filtered chronologically, by events, people, or architecture. The 19 so-called milestones are also a good place to start: These are events or periods of time of special significance for the development of the University of Bremen.

98 Entries, 140 Files, and 19 Milestones

The timeline consists of 98 entries, 140 files, and 19 milestones. It is a joint project of the University Archive and the Administrative Unit for University Communication and Marketing at the University of Bremen. After the initial setup, the timeline will be expanded beyond 2021 and will continue to document the history of the University of Bremen.
