Places to Study on Campus
Students share their favorite places to study on campus
There are several places to study on the University of Bremen’s campus, whether you are writing a term paper, preparing for an exam, or seeking refuge from a noisy apartment. Students report which places on campus they prefer for studying, whether alone or in a group.

“The library is definitely my favorite place to study, since it provides the peace and quiet that I need in order to concentrate, and there isn’t anything there to distract me. I also prefer turning the pages of real books over only looking at a screen.”

“My favorite place to study is in the new BIOM building. I am very fascinated by the learning atmosphere here that fits perfectly with my interest in marine microbiology, an important part of my master’s thesis. The unusual design of the building reminds me of Edward Hopper’s famous painting “Nighthawks” from 1942. The rooms’ deep perspectives and being able to watch everything that is going on outside from within the building provides a unique learning experience. Here, architecture and science converge to create a cohesive and new type of learning environment.”

“My preferred place to study is next to the Mensa Pond. The surrounding nature makes everything much more pleasant. Hearing the lapping water and feeling the fresh air helps me to set other thoughts aside and fully concentrate on studying. It’s a welcome break from the stressful university routine.”

“The university provides several possibilities for studying in a relaxed environment. My favorite places are the oversized tables in the GW2 Cafeteria, the logical atmosphere of the computer room on the ground level of the MZH building, the seminar rooms on the sixth floor of the same building, the area under the graffiti sign in front of the lecture hall in the GW1 building, and one of the many open spaces.”
